How well do they work with something like the W9x start menu or dockable menus? I prefer opening a menu and selecting my programs instead of having them lined up across a taskbar when I start. IceWM has both menus and items in the tray (it actually has a tray, though it doesn't quite look like the windoze tray).

I don't have the problem you're seeing with the Windows Taskbar and Word 2000 using Win98 SP1. It comes back up fine with documents in the bottom task bar I have the TaskBar configured with "Auto Hide", "Always on Top". Nonetheless, O2K will not allow the TaskBar to be "On Top" which is where I want it to be.

To see what I mean dock Richter's autohide appbar on the same side of the desktop as the shell's taskbar. Then click on the desktop. Then click on the clock or between the "buttons" on the taskbar. The taskbar activates _over_ the appbar and obscures it. I might be wrong, but I think this is why the MS sample

I don't believe there is an MFC class for the Application Desktop Toolbar, as it is called. You can do it using the Win32 API, though.

The normal navigation of the taskbar is to click "start", scroll to desired program, click again. Same as my setup but my initial click isn't restricted to so tight of space. Plus you can always get a toolbar app. I DO like the idea of dockable toolbars but they should be applications not shell features.

I got heaps of information from the Microsoft site about creating appbars like the Office shortcut bar, or the taskbar itself, but to enhance integration, I would like to have one that is dockable on the taskbar itself, like the shortcut toolbars and the address bar.
